Quit those Habits

Yes: We’re Quitters

No more cigarettes!

I haven’t written in about a week so I am sorry to myself and to my readers. I’ve been really busy with work, and I haven’t felt the need to update the site as much as I have in the past, simply because I have not smoked in 2 weeks! I haven’t had anything. I am so happy. I feel 10 years younger, and I swear my skin is starting to reshape and clear up as well. I always had leathery skin but it is starting to firm up a bit and get some moisture in it. Maybe all that tar is leaving my body.

I think the greatest part about quitting is the loss of the smokers smell. I hated that smell, it is disgusting. I washed all my clothes 3-4 times to get it out, sprayed them down and you can still smell it. I have bought some new clothes recently, and am happy to report I don’t smell like butt-stink smoke anymore.

I don’t have much else to say except: thanks to my smoking patches. They saved my butt, and maybe added some years to my life.

Quit Drinking – A helpfull guide

Alcoholism is an addiction. Just like any other substance on the planet – hard drugs, smoking or leisure drugs, drinking is a serious problem for millions upon millions all over the world. Just like any other addiction it is very difficult to break out of, and requires the support of those around you and a solid plan including the will to do it.

I’ve looked around the net, and found a ton of information on alcoholism, and ways to quit drinking. It’s really not as hard as say smoking, because alcohol does not contain any addictive properties. It is just the sensation that people become addicted to. Therefore it is a lot easier in theory to stop.

They say you need to hit bottom. Untrue. I had hit bottom several times and it seemed to make me drink even more. The depression finally got to me and I knew I either had to stop drinking or end up taking my own life. The first few weeks were rough but endurable with the help of AA. It really isn’t the AA itself as much as realising you are not alone. 94 days and counting.

It’s true that people do get to that point in their lives. Drinking can throw a person around in more ways than one. Abuse comes to mind. Inability to function in society. Job loss. The list is endless. So what can you do about it?

Quit Drinking Research Suggests:

In order to have a successful run at the drop of alcohol from your body, you will require the help of Vitamins and minerals to help boost your own mental and physical strength to beat the severe withdrawls you will be no doubt having. Research says that starting to take these vitamins immediately will increase the chances of success by huge amounts. The vitamins are:
Beta-carotene, D,L-phenylalanine (DLPA), Evening primrose oil, Glutamine, L-tyrosine, Magnesium, Multiple vitamin-mineral, Vitamin A, Vitamin B3, Vitamin B6, Vitamin B-complex, Vitamin C, Vitamin D, Vitamin E, Milk thistle, and Kudzu.

Thousands have seen the ability to get through withdrawls that much easier, and let’s face it – as soon as we start withdrawing we start to crave the alcohol… which is why we can never quit to begin with.

If you’re really serious about quitting, visit this website. They will have all sorts of vitamin options so you can actually start off on the RIGHT foot this time!

Smoking Patches – They work!

Holy smokes (no pun intended). I received my smoking patches the other day, and have been using them according to the directions. For the first few days I was not convinced they were wokring as I kept chewing my pens apart and chewing/smoking anything I could that even remotely looked like a cigarette. Anyway those tendancies and my cravings are starting to go away. I am still really jumpy and edgy but I am most certainly not wanting a smoke as much as I have been in the past.

I guess these smoking patches work when you want to quit. I was not a believer until the last couple of days, but now I really think that these may be my ticket to stop the addiction. The great news is I am getting all of my senses back… smell, and taste. The tar isn’t clogging up my pores and receptors as much… so I can really taste citrus for example. I am so glad I made this choice. But I certainly couldn’t do it without my patches.

The patch makes me edgy

I don’t know if these patches are going to work. I mean they might for some people, but I find myself sticking everything I can in my mouth and trying to smoke them. Pens, hotdogs, phones… anything that will fit. I’m a nervous wreck and I am really irritated constantly. I sure hope I am getting the correct dose. I’ll write a bit more later, I need to have a nice long hot bath.
